WARNING

There is s company out there, for now we'll call them StayMommy, that does offer you hosting and domain registration. While they are a great top level registrar and registering your domain with them is an excellent idea, StayMommy's hosting is NOT recommended. They tend to put all your hosting on very cramped, poorly monitored shared servers and we have never had luck with even the simplest sites loading quickly. We have personally worked on sites that have been hosted at StayMommy and all those customers complain to us constantly about how slow their site loads and runs. All I can do is explain why that is and say "I told you so".

Please, if you have not yet decided on a host, choose Hostgator or The Planet.

But always feel free to use StayMommy as your registrar, they actuall have the best tool  set in the business for domain control.

Payments and Payment Scheduling Print

How does Joomla! Crafters receive payments from customers?

99% of all payments made to us will be through PayPal invoicing. We Prefer to do it this way so that we never directly collect your personal financial information or store it within our records. Plus PayPal is recognized around the world as the safest way to make any payment online. They also offer buyer and seller protection (please visit their site to find out more or click here).

Now you do not have to have a PayPal account to pay a PayPal invoice. They are set up to receive all major credit card information that will all be protected by their security measures. Again, please visit PayPal and read up on their privacy policies.

Joomla! Crafters will accept checks through the mail, but only under the following conditions:
  • You have used our services at least once before and paid on time and through PayPal
  • Delivery of the final project files will only be made once a check is received and cleared
  • We are able to verify the address from which you are doing business with Joomla! Crafters from

How will payments be scheduled?

The standard practice for most jobs is to receive half of the total cost of the project up front and the remaining half on completion of the job to the customer’s satisfaction.

Under special circumstances Joomla! Crafters may allow full payment to be made at the end of the job, but only if ALL the following criteria are met:
  • You have used our services at least once before and paid on time
  • The job is relatively small (normally $100 or less)
  • You agree not to receive the final project files until the invoice has been paid
“Please do not ask for this privilege unless all 3 items are true”
Now for jobs that become quite large, usually over $2,500.00, a payment schedule will be setup. This would involve 3 (possibly more) payments (not necessarily equal) to be made at predetermined points in the project timeline. These points will be discussed with the customer before work begins and will be outlined in the work order agreement the customer receives.

Is there ever a situation where Joomla! Crafters will charge by the hour?

Yes, many smaller projects are billed by the hour simply because some could take almost no time and others might require several revisions to have the project turn out perfect for the customer. Common jobs of this nature would include header or logo design, single module or component installation and a few other odd jobs for Joomla! sites. Hourly charges will be determined on a per job basis and based on our experience.

When billing by the hour we give you an estimate of how long we think it will take and then you pay half of that total up front. We keep a detailed log file of when we work on a job, what we did in that time and the total time it took for each of those working sessions in 15 minute increments. Then once the job is finished, you will be charged for the grand total of time minus the original down payment you made.

The customer is free to ask for the kept log file at any time during the project, but one will be provided to the customer at the end of the project regardless if it was asked for or not so that you may see the work that went into your requests.

Rates for hourly work will normally range between $20 – 40 dollars per hour, depending on the jobs complexity and rarity.

Any foot notes?

Of course! If the project you have requested of Joomla! Crafters is not packaged with certain items such as web hosting or domain registration, those costs will not be a part of the project total and will most likely have to be made up front so that we can implement them for project development. In cases of packaged services, items of this nature will simply come out of the first down payment.
